Property Showing Etiquette

Property Showing Etiquette – Checklist for what to do after a showing:

  • Leave the property as you found it.
  • Collect any papers or trash and remove garbage from property.
  • Tidy up any items that may have been moved.
  • Return blinds/curtains to their original position.
  • Do a quick walkthrough to make sure everything is the same as when you arrived.
  • Turn off all lights.
  • Lock all doors – don’t forget basement and garage.
  • Return Key to the Lockbox.

From NAR’s Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual: Be considerate of the seller's property. Do not allow anyone to eat, drink, smoke, dispose of trash, use bathing or sleeping facilities, or bring pets. Leave the house as you found it unless instructed otherwise.
